Why do we need to upgrade an EV charge station from 120V to 240V?

The existing charging system provided by the car manufacturer can plug into a standard 120V wall socket in your garage, but if you own an electric vehicle, the rate of charge would make it inconvenient for most drivers who want their car fully charged overnight and ready to go in the morning. If an overnight charge is what you want, you’ll want to upgrade to a 240V charging system. We call this Level 2 charging, similar to what is used for dishwashers, washers and dryers (as opposed to Level 1 charging in the 120V standard option).
